Where to Buy the GUIDE |
Greenwich
Avenue is an active, vibrant shopping and dining center. Without a doubt
you will enjoy a stroll down The Avenue. Most likely you will be greeted
with friendly smiles, and you will certainly enjoy window shopping even
if you are not in the mood to buy. Old timers in Greenwich often lament
the changes to The Avenue. It certainly is true that some of the mom and
pop stores have had to leave because of high rents. Space on The Avenue
rents for approximately $75 to $95 per square foot. This means that a
2,000 square foot store would rent for $13,000 a month. We encourage you
to support the individual entrepreneurs that remain. Sound Beach Avenue
in Old Greenwich is another wonderful shopping street, more reminiscent
of how Greenwich Avenue used to be. You will also note that many
interesting shops are on the side streets in Greenwich and Old Greenwich
as well as in Cos Cob, Riverside and Glenville. We are lucky to have
such a variety. While some towns have had their downtown shopping areas
deserted because of nearby malls, Greenwich shopping just grows stronger
and prettier.
